Ohio Military Family Spirit Week

For the students at Licking Heights, the week of April 13th, 2026, holds a deeper meaning than just another spring spirit week. It marks the Ohio Military Family Spirit Week, a dedicated time to recognize the unique journeys of the many military-connected children walking the school’s halls. These students often face a "quiet battle" behind the scenes, navigating an average of six to nine different schools before graduation and enduring the emotional weight of parental deployments.

The week serves as a powerful reminder that while their parents serve in uniform, these children "serve too—just in a different way," often displaying remarkable resilience and adaptability despite the frequent moves and situational stress.

The halls will transform into a vibrant display of support as students and staff participate in daily themed events organized by Social Studies teacher Aimee Wilson.

The week kicks off with a patriotic sea of Red, White, and Blue on Monday, followed by students representing their favorite military branches on Tuesday. Wednesday is the highlight of the week—"Purple Up! Day"—where everyone wears purple to specifically celebrate military kids, a color representing the combination of all military branch colors.

The week rounds out with Camo Day on Thursday and a final "Wear Red" day on Friday to remember everyone currently deployed, ensuring that every military-connected student at Licking Heights feels seen, supported, and honored by their community.
