The March Madness season at Licking Heights took on a literal meaning as the annual tradition of Senior Tag (often called "Senior Assassin") reached its peak intensity in the spring of 2026. What started as a fun bonding ritual for the graduating class quickly turned into a high-stakes game of stealth and strategy, with teams of seniors stalking their assigned targets through the streets of Pataskala. Armed with neon-green super soakers and brightly colored water balloons, students spent their evenings crouched behind recycling bins and parked cars, waiting for the perfect moment to "eliminate" a classmate with a single splash of water.

The game operates under strict unwritten rules to keep the peace: no tags are allowed on school property during school hours, and "safe zones" like workplaces and churches are strictly off-limits. To avoid becoming a target themselves, some participants have resorted to wearing "immunity" items like swim goggles or baby shark arm floaties, signaling they are temporarily invincible while out in public. While local authorities and school officials have issued warnings about trespassing and reckless driving, the Class of 2026 continues to embrace the madness as a final, soaking-wet rite of passage before they walk across the graduation stage.
