Teacher Spotlight: Two of the Coolest at Licking Heights!

It’s Shoutout Time and we’re spotlighting two awesome teachers who bring energy, laughter, and inspiration to Licking Heights everyday! 

Mrs. Matthews has been teaching for 18 years 13 of those being here at Licking Heights. She currently teaches Algebra 2 and loves getting to “be around with teenagers all day”. A fun fact you might not know is she had to take Calculus 1 three times before mastering it. Her favorite moments as a teacher are seeing her students graduate and when kids choose her to hand them their diploma. Every year she looks forward to teaching and sharing laughs in her classroom making math  a little more fun for everyone.

Mr.Kapcar was inspired to become a teacher so he could be a positive role model and help students make good decisions in and out of school. He’s been teaching for “19.33” years as he says. He has experience as an Intervention Specialist, Science, Math, and now as a World History teacher. Something you may not know about Mr.Kapcar is he met Lebron James at the state boys finals when LeBron was just a freshman! His favorite part about working at Licking Heights is his amazing coworkers and students. His most rewarding moments as a teacher are when students are able to open up to talk about their personal life or give genuine compliments. His favorite lesson to teach is The Cold War because he lived through a little of it!
