The Licking Heights 2026 Softball season is underway and the Ladies are starting off strong with a 2-0 win over the Buckeye Valley Barons. The win came with Hornets pitcher Natalie Mahoney having 14 strikeouts. The Hornets opened up the scoring, scoring off a Buckeye Valley error in the 4th inning to put the score at 1-0 Hornets. Kelsey Carter scored the next run, hitting a solo home run in the 5th to put the Hornets up 2-0. Lily Reich, Hayley Stout, and Cassidy Kasiara collecting hits for the hornets. Kelsey Carter also had an RBI in the win. The Lady Hornets next contest is against the Reynoldsburg Raiders on Thursday, March 26th at home.

We asked Mahoney a few questions about her performance in the circle:

  1. How does it feel to strike out 14 batters in the opening game of the season?

It feels pretty good; I’m setting myself and our team up for success for the rest of the season.

  1. How will you build off of this performance for the rest of the season?

My team and I will keep working toward the goals we set for ourselves and continue to build off the success from that game.
